Blog Theme

Apparently I have to pay $$ to change my word press blog. I’ve made a tumblr blog, it is kateriethmuller.tumblr.com. I’m going to develop my theme through that blog.

Website Finnished

I’m pretty sure I’ve finnished my site (I hope) I’m pretty happy with it!! My brother helped me with some Java script, and after some bickering and yelling I finnaly figured out how to do it. Now I just have to put it up on the web. Wish me luck!!

Progress

I have my design all worked out and I know what I want to do, it just takes forever!! It’ll take me like an hour to figure out how to do anything. It is getting easier and quicker as I go along but its still driving me crazy!!!! I think I’ll stick to industrial design after this unit!!!

The Look

I’ve come up with a design that I’m happy with. I was actually inspired by a Jack Johnson cd cover. It looks a little like the above. I’m keeping simple but striking colours and I’ve started putting it all together in dreamweaver. Its SO fiddly. Getting there though.

Further ideas

So I was playing around with photoshop and started to make a mock up of the page, with a floating island of grass at the top with flowers and the title (Stonefest) coming out of the ground, having flowers or bees as task bars. I thought this was a bit busy though. I think I want to keep the site reasonably simple, keep the most important info at the top of the home page along with links and anchors to take you to tickitek, artist’s sites etc.

Ideas

I’ve chosen to redesign the Stonfest webite, I figured I could relate the style and genre and would enjoy dong this the most.  I thought that the theme should be bright and like the idea of having a “Spring” theme (the season).  So green grass, flowers, bees and butterflys perhaps??

5 Websites

I’ve chosen 5 websites… YEY!!!

Basically I was cluless on where to start, I mean there are milions among millions of websites and I have to pick 5 out of them all.  I thought it easier to just pick a general genre and by finding websites that related in content, I hoped they’d relate in design too.

My theory worked!! I origianlly looked up a series of Fast Food websites and they were all quite similar but I decided to do something a little more interesting and I am now looking at 5 sports websites:

The NRL website – www.nrl.com

The AFL webite – www.afl.com.au

The Football Australia website – www.footballaustralia.com.au

The Australian Rugby union webite – www.rugby.com.au

And because I ran out of football coads the NBL website – www.nbl.com.au

Honestly, I’m not particularly interested in the sports too much but the websites looked pretty good to compare and share many of the same features.

Web Design???

Ok, so basically I haven’t done anything like this before and looking at it ,I think i’m going to find it quite difficult. I understand what we have to do and what not, it’s just that I’m a little technologically challenged… Hopefully by the end of this unit I will have improved slightly (you’d hope anyway). Maybe I’m just daunted by the fact that I have never done this, only one way to find out I guess…
